Purpose of the Feasibility Study

The main goal of this feasibility study is to assess the economic viability and potential success of the proposed creation of an extension campus of Northern Caribbean University on the grounds of Bahamas Academy on Marshall Road in The Bahamas. The university extension is projected to serve the educational needs the South Bahamas Conference (SBC) of Seventh-day Adventists constituency primarily and secondarily the non-Seventh-day Adventist population.  The feasibility study will seek to answer these questions:

  1. Is there a genuine need and demand for an extension campus of Northern Caribbean University in the SBC territory?

  2. Is the youth population of the Seventh-day Adventist Church large enough to feed the university extension?

  3. If there is a demand for the university extension, what programs should be offered and at what levels to meet the labor market needs of the SBC territory in the private and public sectors, and the academic and career preparation needs of potential students?

  4. Is there a need for pre-college education to help qualify students who do not meet college matriculation requirements? Is there a need for professional/vocational education and training?

  5. What is the enrollment figure required to generate the revenue level to pay regular operational expenditures or break even?

  6. What will the fee structure (tuition and others) be for the proposed programs in The Bahamas?

  7. What will the admissions and matriculation requirements be?

  8. What are other potential sources of funds to sustain and grow a vibrant university extension?

  9. Does the SBC territory possess the teaching and administrative human resources required to support the programs offered and the governance structure of the university extension?

  10. What minimum administrative/managerial and legal structures are required to begin operating the university extension?

  11. Are classrooms, administrative offices, equipment, and furnishings in the proposed facility on Marshal Road suitable and adequate for such a project? Is there a resource center or library? What physical and academic resources will be needed to ready the resource center for students’ use?

  12. Is the proposed site readily accessible to potential students?

  13. What technology and equipment will be required to store students’ academic records, accounting and administrative records?

  14. How will the programs be marketed, branded, and differentiated from other programs offered locally to secure the projected enrollment required to be financially viable?

  15. What are the estimated working capital and operational costs required to establish and sustain the extension campus until full revenue is achieved?
