My Thumb
Barrington H. Brennen
It is with
this thumb, and other fingers, that I used to vote YES YES
YES YES on Referendum day, Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
There were four questions to provide gender equality in the
Constitution of The Bahamas. It turned to be "Black
Tuesday" for me because the majority of people vote "No" on
all four questions.
To prevent
voters from voting again the thumb is dipped in a dye.
In this photo you will notice that the ink in now faded
indicating the fading of hope for an egalitarian
Bahamian society. But we will fight on. |
